ROSELLE
9 Km from Grosseto, on a low hill, there is the ancient city of Roselle.
It was an etruscan town of great importance and between the VI and the V century b.C. it expanded its borders up to the state of Populonia.
In 1942 the ancient village was brough to light.
Today we can admire the impressive walls which are about 3 kilometers in lenght, in more than five meters hight the best preserved spots sometimes with individual blocks more than two meters hight.
Inside the walls there are Romans ruins such as the anphitheatre, thermae, the imperial forum and the paved road.
The entrance of Roselle archeological park is against payment and the *timetable is the following:
- November-February: 9.00-18.30
- March-April: 9.00-19.30
- May-August: 9.00-20.30
- September-October: 9.00-19.30
